Unsolved Case #11
Reference Number 00-4
Victim - Joshua Wolfe
Age 18 years, 11 days
My son Joshua was leaving a party with four of his friends. Instead of walking the normal way home, he decided to take the fellsway home. That is a main street in the city of Medford, Mass. He was walking behind his friends, when two of them got into a verbal argument with another young man walking in the opposite direction. Bobby Rogers was in an individual argument with Anthony Pagano when my son stepped in the middle of them to stop the arguing. From what I gathered from various stories told to me from the other friends there, Joshua then was pushed into the nearby bushes with Anthony Pagano and started to scream, "He got me. He got me." Bobby Rogers then went over to the bushes, and Kenny tried kicking Anthony when he came away from the bushes. Kenny received a stab wound down one side of his leg and my son staggered around holding his chest. Anthony ran. No one followed him, saying that they were in shock from seeing Joshua sitting on the curb bleeding everywhere, and Kenny laying on the sidewalk bleeding. An off-duty EMT worker stopped and assisted Joshua by putting paper towels on his chest. On the opposite side of the street a policeman had just driven by, turned around and came to assist Joshua. Joshua was then transported to Massachusetts General Hospital and Kenny was transported in another ambulance. I received the call and myself and my older son went to the hospital. I did not know the extent of Joshua's injuries until I received a phone call from one of the nurses in the operating room who told me they had sewn Joshua's heart up and were now going to close the rest of the wounds. The surgeon came down about five hours later and told me Joshua had a 10% chance to survive.
My son died October 2, 1996 while drowning in his own blood after a major heart attack.
Bobby Rogers confessed to the district attorney who was prosecuting the case. Right before he went to the Grand Jury to testify against Anthony Pagano, the one who had been arrested for this crime, he admitted to the D.A. that, "I stabbed Joshua and I think I am the one that killed him."
Bobby obtained an attorney and pleaded the fifth. The detectives now say that there is not enough evidence to convict anyone.
