Jerry Alter

Murdered December 27, 1996

Jerry Alter

On December 27, 1996, Jerry Alter was fatally shot in the head and found in an alley on Hickery Street, south of 8 Mile Road and Schoenherr Street in Detroit, Michigan. Jerry called home at 7 pm on December 26tyh to let the family know he was coming by. He never showed up. The next day at noon the family received a call from the Wayne County Medical Examiner that he had been killed. His car is still missing, a 1986 four door maroon escort, license plate number ZMZ 312.

Police feel that there was more than one person involved. His car plates were turned into the Secretary of State office in December, 1997. They verify that the plate was turned in, but have no other information. Jerry was 31 years old. He grew up in Eastpoint, Michigan. He was 6 foot tall, 135 pounds, dark brown hair, brown eyes, and olive complexion.

Prior to his murder he was seeing a girl whose ex-boyfriend was very angry about their relationship. The week before he was killed his car window was smashed and the battery was stolen. We don't know if there was any connection.
