Unsolved Case #16
Reference Number 00-9
On January 11th, 2000, Isaac Dawkins was leaving Floyd College in a white Toyota truck with blue strips on each side, a tool box in the bed and fog lights on the front. He turned right on a 4-lane highway, 27 South, heading towards home. This road leads into Rome, Georgia, but it also leads towards Bartow County and Atlanta, Georgia. He went through a big intersection, started up a slight hill near the Coca-Cola Plant that is on the left, 5 to 6 miles from the school. Traveling an estimated speed of 55 mph, he passed a car, so he was in the left hand lane when his truck then veered off the road into the oncoming traffic, hitting a guard rail and flipping over. He was transported to Floyd Medical Center. A bullet had interred the rear window of his truck, hitting him in the head. He died 24 hours later from a gun shot wound to the right side of his head. There is currently a $15,000 reward for any information resulting in the arrest and consequent conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Isaac Dawkins.
