Unsolved Case #97
Reference Number 10-02
Evaristo "Juny" Sierra
Date of Death: September 24, 2009
Police are investigating the execution-style shooting of a 31-year-old man whose body was found Thursday evening in his Northeast Side duplex, authorities said. The victim, Evaristo Sierra, was found about 3:30 p.m. in the living room of his ransacked home in the 12200 block of Maverick Bluff, said Sgt. John Carey of the San Antonio Police Department. He had a single, small-caliber gunshot wound to the back of his head, Carey said. He said furniture in the duplex was overturned, indicating a struggle. Carey said it was unknown if anything was stolen, and police couldn't immediately determine a motive for the slaying. The victim's girlfriend, who was at work, asked her sister to check on Sierra on Thursday after she was unable to reach him on the phone, authorities said. When the sister arrived, the front door was unlocked, Carey said. He said she called authorities after walking inside and finding the victim facedown on the floor. Police questioned several neighbors, but Carey said no one reported hearing or seeing anything. No arrests have been made.
