Unsolved Case #8
Reference Number 00-1
Alisa Newton Heinsohn
Born April 29, 1937
Murdered July 14, 1998
At approximately 7:00 pm on the evening of July 14, 1998, Alisa Newton "Scottie" Heinsohn, 61, arrived at her third floor apartment at 3400 Salado Creek Drive in the Northeast side of San Antonio, Texas. She had given a ride to a co-worker and then stopped for a few groceries on her way home. When she arrived, she set down her bags and changed out of her work clothes.
At half-past noon the following day, a friend whom she'd agreed to meet for lunch showed up at the apartment, concerned that she had not answered her phone. The door was found unlocked and Heinsohn's body was found inside near the entrance in a pool of blood. She had been stabbed in the neck and chest. The contents of her purse had been emptied onto the floor, but nothing was missing from the scene.
At least one resident nearby claimed to have heard sounds of a struggle coming from inside the apartment between 7:00 and 7:30 pm on the 14th. Several witnesses said they saw a man stalking the premises earlier that day, wearing dark shorts and a light colored T-shirt. He had approached several women that afternoon, having followed them to their doors, watched them enter, and waited a few minutes before attempting to gain entrance. He was unsuccessful.
San Antonio Police Detectives are searching for a white male adult, possibly in his late twenties, about 5'10", with a stocky build, unkept, sandy-blonde hair and a slight beard. It is not believed that the killer knew his victim, nor is it known that he is still in the San Antonio area. He is wanted on a charge of capital murder.
